Izébel Vivant - Burlesque's "Duchess of Debauchery" - is a recent transplant to Boston from New York, where she debuted in 2007 as a founding member of the controversial college troupe, Alpha Psi Ecdysia: The only state-sponsored strippers in the nation! After completing a thesis on burlesque and feminist theory, Izébel went on to perform on some of the most fantastic burlesque stages from NYC to LA with Rhinestone Gorilla Burlesque, Hotsy Totsy, Sharkbite Sideshow, Uncle Monty's Mollyhouse, Victory Variety Hour, The Burlesque Expo, Burlesque Paradiso, and Albany's SPAM - just to name a few of her favorites. Firmly anchored in NYC's Neo Burlesque tradition of stripperformance art, her acts have been deemed "truly ridiculous," "thought-provoking," "F%^%#@! gorgeous," and "OMG, What Was That!"
Acts:
- "Anatomy of a Pin Up" - A tribute to the art of Dr. Annie Sprinkle, and a classic commentary on the social construction of Beauty.
- "Chicken Dildar" - 'Honey! I made chicken! Honey?' A neglected housewife's descent into madness... or is it?
- "Spring" - A saint? With those ears? A tribute to Spring fertility festivals of yore. Not recommended to religious viewers.
- "Start Wearing Purple" - What the song says. And remember, folks, always use protection.
- "Shhh BOOM" - This act gets under my skin. A truly creepy Halloween spectacular... Or perhaps another social commentary?
- "The Duchess in Green" - A vintage 1920's classic burlesque striptease.
- "Skin" - The story of a Windup Girl
- "Downton Abby" - A moment of forbidden love, set in the world of 1914.
- "The Laundress" - An early 1920s maid gets up to mischief.
- "Down With the Sickness" - 'Is it getting hot in here?' 'I don't know but this jazz piano is sick!'
- "Poison Ivy" - Not quite the DC Comics supervillainess, much more itchy. (Complimentary calamine lotion provided.)
- "Moonlight Sonata" - The moon is disgusting. It's made of cheese.
- "Classic Black" - A gorgeous classic burlesque striptease. Very sparkly.
- "Our Lady of the Underground" - 'Brother, what's my name? I'll tell you my name... Persephone.'
- "Cousin Itt" - The most piliferous member of The Adams Family is feeling lonely.
- "Ygritte" - 'You know nothing, Jon Snow.'
- "Like A Boss" - Don't you wish your office was hot like this.
